Speaker Buzz

It’s kind of nice at times, when you can’t tell if it’s the synth patch or the speakers subtly distorting.

Happy New Year

Happy new year to you all, wherever and whenever you may be. Let’s hope this year we put all that shit that formed the 2000s behind us, and actually come together as a planet because God knows we’re looking pretty fucked if we don’t.

As for me, I’m putting together something for the not too distant future. Still trying desperately to sort out some better online presence, rather than the sporadic pop-up ‘hello’ ever so often. Though I do sort of like this one.

Lévy Flight Single

Sorry for the protracted absence. I’ve uploaded the rapidly-becoming-ancient “Lévy Fight Single” from 2007. It’s a three track experiment based in random composition. It’s a lot more chaotic than Transducer. And it’s completely free! Perhaps I’ll say more about it some time, but for now, enjoy:

I spent a few minutes updating the Line Spectra Myspace page today. I never really got round to making a full go of Myspace; it always seemed such an awful place to be. Still, I can’t deny that flicking over to an artist’s page is the quickest way to get to hear their material. Perhaps it’s an aesthetic thing that irks me; the whole experience is very unpolished (I suppose a supporter of it would call it “rough and ready”). Having to actually deal with the whole backend of Myspace is just as much of a irritation; often it’s so broken as to be unusable. Hence I always left it “for another day”, but that day never came.

I’d genuinely be interested to hear from people who find Myspace useful beyond clicking on that play button in the top-right corner.

There’s much goodness to be had, now, thanks to some actual knuckling-down. You can now buy digital copies of Transducer and any of the tracks from it, for the low price of £1 per track or £5 for the whole 6 track, 45-minute sprawl. The neat thing is that you can download in a variety of high-quality formats, and even grab the 128kbps MP3 for just your email address, if you don’t feel you can part with your hard earned cash (and in today’s economic climate who can blame you?). All this thanks to the magic of BandCamp.

Head on over to the Line Spectra BandCamp page to get at the goods. Sorry it’s a bit sparse over there.

I should point out that the album download also comes with a previously unreleased booklet of photography. Of course, the physical version is still available via IFF Transponder Recordings.
